Richard Haslam Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Inc. - Lansdale on Feb. 25, 2026.
Richard W. Haslam, 81, of Lansdale, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 after a brief hospitalization. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth S. "Betty" Zimmerman.

Richard was born in Philadelphia, on April 17, 1944, a son of the late Franklin G. Haslam and Betty J. Haslam.

His family moved to Oreland, PA where he attended school. During his youth he developed a love of fishing, gardening, sports and most of all Philadelphia sports teams, particularly the Eagles. He bled Eagles' green for over 70 years from Shibe Park, to Franklin Field, next the Vet, and finally the Linc. Richard was employed by Zieger & Sons' wholesale florist, where he worked for over 50 years until he retired.

Through mutual acquaintances, Richard met Betty in 1967 and they were wed on May 31, 1969. Richard and Betty were married for 56 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kera Haslam (Matthew Conard) of Lansdale, and Richel Haslam-Hemmer (John Hemmer) of Annandale, VA; and his utmost pride and joy, his granddaughters: Kaylee Croasmun, Olivia Croasmun, Emmaline Hemmer, Jaylin Conard, and Larissa Conard.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Haslam; and sister, Betty Ayrton.

Richard will be lovingly remembered for his unwavering commitment to and love of his family, his true kindness to everyone, his comical perspective and sense of humor, his "green thumb," his incredible strength of character, persistence and his ingenuity for fixing nearly anything.

Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2211 Mainland Road, Harleysville, PA 19438 followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the adjacent cemetery. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.

For those desiring, contributions may be made to The Foundation Fighting Blindness, PO Box 45740, Baltimore, MD 21297 or The National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
