Richard Hellums Obituary
He was born July 27, 1952 in Washington, Indiana to Carl Vernon and Pauline Elizabeth (Blair) Hellums.
Richard was a dispatcher for the Loogootee Police Department. It was a job he truly enjoyed because he loved to help others. He loved to be outdoors, fishing, hunting, and taking care of his many pet cats.
He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Hellums; father, Carl Vernon Hellums; brother-in-law, James Lewis.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Heather (Anthony) Francis of Knightsville, Indiana and Brandy Hellums of Terre Haute, Indiana; mother, Pauline Hellums of Loogootee; sister, Deborah Lewis of Terre Haute, Indiana; grandchildren, Trevor Sellers, Tyler Rohman, Nicholas Clark, Deion Russell and Donte Francis; great-grandchildren, Michael, CeCe, Vi, Brenna and Baker; niece, Rebecca Lewis; nephew, Anthony Lewis.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Martin County Humane Society.
