Richard (Dick) John Jacques Sr., 88, of
Bristolville, OH passed away peacefully to be reunited with his beloved wife, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Ohman family living at Holly, after a very quick decline in health soon after learning of the loss of his wife.
He was born February 4, 1938, and raised in
Solon, OH, the son of the late Richard Jacques and Betty (Walter) Hila. After school Richard completed his Army basic training and served 4 years in the Army reserves. In 1962, he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Christine Papin with whom he was together for over 64 years. Richard was always a very hardworking husband and father to his three children. He ran his own roadside welding business and soon after moved his family to Nelson to open his metal finishing business with his wife, which was R J & S metal finishing. After running his own business for many years and meeting some challenges he closed his business and became a welder for Demag Cranes in Solon (he worked many years alongside his son Rick) until his retirement and move to Bristolville in 1998.
Richard had a tender heart for his family including his pets. When he was young man, he was known to befriend wild crows and in adulthood taught his children about rescuing wildlife in need, such as baby robins. Richard shared a deep love of anything chocolate with his daughter Michelle. Some of his happiest days were spent in his boat fishing with his son Rick, son-in-law Mike, or close friends on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario for Perch. Walleye, and Salmon. He was also known to take a cruise or two in his 1996 Silver collector's edition Corvette in his retirement. He loved to play a game of pool, cruise on his motorcycle, or take a ride on his 4-wheeler. He enjoyed target shooting including entering many turkey shoots in his later years. Richard had a sense of humor and was most content surrounded by the people he loved, sharing a laugh or hobby together. He will be deeply missed.
Richard is survived by his son, John Jacques, of
Bristolville, OH; daughter, Michelle (Mike) Casseday, of West Farmington, OH, and many extended family members.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest son Richard (Rick) Jacques Jr, his wife Mary Ann Jacques, and his siblings Norma Turner and John Richard Jacques.
