Entered into rest on Monday, May 19, 2025, at his residence, Mr. Richard “Rick” Russell Johnson Jr. age 64. Family members include his daughter: Nadia Glasscock (Vernon), Madeline Johnson; father: Richard Russell Johnson Sr.; mother: the late, Sherby W Johnson; sister: Deborah Johnson; brother: Darryl Johnson; grandkids: Jordan, Nalina, Arian, Elara, Cambrian, and Atyis Glasscock.

Rick, lovingly known as “Fat Daddy” was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital and was lifelong resident of Augusta. He was a 1978 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. He attended the University of Georgia in 1984 for Architectural Design and was a proud member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. He went on to own an Architectural business, opened an Art store, and designed many structures in Athens, and Atlanta. He continued his Design career for many large companies. Rick was an artist, who loved going to Georgia games in Athens, loved Haunted Houses, visiting museums and having fun in theme parks like Disney and Universal. He loved reading books, loved music (especially U2) and was a very big fan of horror movies. He was a very generous man who loved to laugh and play pranks and just loving to everyone. He was an encouraging Dad, Son, Brother, Cousin and Friend to many. He told his daughter‘s many times to follow their dreams and to never give up.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30 prior to the service. Everyone is welcome to bring memorabilia to share for good memories. After the graveside family and friends are more than welcome to visit at Rick’s childhood home after. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 W Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.
