Richard Eugene Johnson, Jr., affectionately known as Rich to his loved ones, passed away on July 18, 2025, in his hometown of Denver, Colorado. Born on May 1, 1971, Rich's life was a testament to the enduring power of kindness, humor, and thoughtfulness.

Rich's journey began in Denver, where he was born into a world that would be forever brightened by his presence. Growing up, Rich's warm spirit and infectious laughter became a beacon of joy for all who knew him. He carried these traits into adulthood, where they shone even brighter as he embraced the roles of a dedicated husband, loving son, an amazing father and best friend to his cherished son.

Rich's dedication to his family was paralleled by his commitment to his community. As a football coach and mentor, he touched the lives of many young individuals, guiding them not only in their athletic pursuits but also in life's more significant challenges. Rich's ability to connect with people, to listen and to offer wisdom, made him a pillar in the lives of those he coached and mentored.

His interests were as vast and vibrant as his personality. An aficionado of 80's music, Rich could often be found humming the tunes of a bygone era, a bright smile on his face as he relived the memories each song evoked. Movies and concerts were not just pastimes but experiences that he cherished, especially when shared with friends and family. His love for cars and the freedom of the open road led him to many adventures, from road trips that traced the contours of the country to 4-wheeling escapades that satisfied his thirst for excitement.

Rich enjoyed camping under the stars or spending time in the Colorado Mountains. His passion for the outdoors was matched only by his desire to help others and to stand up for those in need. His home was a haven of relaxation, where many evenings were spent watching TV with his family, each moment a precious memory in the making.

As we bid farewell to Rich, we remember a man whose life was a beautiful mosaic of love, laughter, and selflessness. He was the kind of person who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. While he may have departed from this world, his legacy of kindness, humor, and thoughtfulness will continue to inspire and guide us.

We take solace in knowing that Rich's journey was filled with love, laughter, and the beauty of the world he so cherished. His spirit will forever be etched in the mountains he adored and in the hearts of those who loved him. Richard Eugene Johnson, Jr. will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his story continues to be told through the lives of those he touched.
