Richard’s life began on January 2, 1964, in Fort Riley, KS. He was the son of Lawrence R. and June L. (Beiter) Johnson. Richard was a 1982 graduate of Council Grove High School. He had worked for the Manhattan and St. George’s united school districts as well as Schram’s Chrysler in Manhattan. Richard always had a love of automobiles, especially the 57 Chevy he got from his father. He enjoyed listening to his music, spending time with family and he was a pretty fair “shade tree” mechanic. Richard is survived by his brothers Don (Christi) Johnson of Junction City and Jon (Candi) Johnson of Cheney, KS; nieces and nephews Tyler (Shawna) Johnson, Jessica (Jesse) Sprague, Cal Johnson, and Sam Johnson; great nieces and nephews Jace, Logan, Avalyn, Isabel, Annallia, Kaen and Dominik. Richard passed away on January 1, 2026, at Wakefield Care and Rehab. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Libby Johnson. Services are pending at this time.
