Richard "Dick" Michael Kading, 72, of Bridgman passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 3903 Lake St., Bridgman, MI 49106. Friends may meet with the family from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, April 15, at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, MI 49106. Final resting place will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Bridgman American Legion Post 331, P.O. Box 67, Bridgman, MI 49106, Berrien County Cancer Services, 3900 Hollywood Road, St. Joseph, MI 49085, or Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Dick was born on March 23, 1952, in Benton Harbor, the son of the late Richard and Shirley (Kunde) Kading.
On Sept. 2, 1978, he married Susan Meredith.
He was a member at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Dick had owned and operated Buchanan Feed Mill and the Bridgman Feed Store for many years. He later became a Realtor and worked with John Meredith & Associates, as well as Core Real Estate. He was a longtime member of the Bridgman Planning Commission and was a board member of Country Heritage Credit Union. He enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting and fishing. He was a movie and TV buff and an avid fan of Detroit teams and his MSU Spartans.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Susan; three children: Amanda (Wayne) Hall, Melissa (John) Stoll, and Patrick (Aryn) Kading; eight grandchildren: Noah and Parker Hall, Johnny, Jane, Mary Susan and Margaret Stoll, and Angelina and Grant Kading; two sisters: Sandra (Ted) Kalin and Susan (Gene) Deja; and one brother, Tim (Cindy) Kading.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.
