Richard Karnowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Angels Above Cremation Services on Mar. 18, 2026.
Richard Wayne Karnowski of Topeka, Kansas departed this life on Saturday, March 7th. He was born on July 12th, 1967 in Topeka Kansas to Gwendolyn Mae Douglass.

Richard was preceded in death by his father Peter Michael Karnowski and infant niece Gaileanna Marcella Passafume.

He is survived by his wife Wyndi Senogles, daughter Jenna (Eli) Wietharn, Mother Gwendolyn Douglass, all of Topeka, sisters Deborah (Robert) Winfield of Dinwiddie, Virginia and Nicole Passafume and brother-in-law Robert J. Burdick Jr. of Topeka. His niece MaKayla Passafume, great nieces Alaina Hickerson, Isabelle Barnett and great nephew Benjamin Barnett all of Topeka.

Richard was an appliance repairman by trade, having studied at Kaw Area Vocational Technical School in 1988 and continued in his career for almost 4 decades.

Richard was an avid collector of cherished vinyl, movies, and sports cards. He loved spending time combing through bins and boxes at garage sales, estate sales, and auctions, always on the hunt for a treasure.

Richard was a very gifted musician; he began playing drums at the age of 15, being largely self-taught, much to the dismay of the neighbors. Richard eventually studied percussion at Washburn University in Topeka and was a drummer in several bands including WynRich with his wife Wyndi on guitar and vocals.

There will be a graveside service on March 27th at 2:00 at Rochester Cemetery 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka, Kansas 66618.

Richard will be forever remembered for his love of family, willingness to help others, his strong work ethic and sense of integrity. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
