Richard Keppler
SPRING GLEN - Richard Keppler, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home on September 5, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 17, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to August and Beatrice Goodwin Keppler. Rick married Ardith Wilson on March 11, 1964 in Boulder, Colorado. Together they spent over 61 incredible years together.
A long-time resident of Carbon County since 1974, Richard's early years were spent working construction as an engineer at the Hunter and Huntington Power Plants with Jelco, which would later lead to a career at Utah Power and Light. Among his many other talents, Richard was a renowned commercial pilot and he worked alongside his beloved wife Ardith maintaining, operating, and residing at the Carbon Emery Regional Airport for over 15 years.
Richard had a special place in his heart for his many pets. Many neighbors may have heard about Peepers the hatchling duck they raised, or little Gizmo that was the neighborhood dog, and in more recent years his precious puppies, Aymee, Nadia, Sammie the Great Dane, and Lily the cat.
When Richard wasn't busy tending to his cherished pets, he could be found putting his wealth of knowledge to good use. He was always busy with something, whether it was designing and landscaping their home, hot air ballooning and flying with pals in Albuquerque, NM, or traveling all over the world with his loving wife, Ardith. Whether at home or traveling afar, Richard was always there to help those in need and share his vast knowledge, passions, and hobbies with anyone willing to lend an ear.
Richard is survived by his wife, Ardith Keppler; daughter, Carol Sanches, Spring Glen; daughter, Gail (Barry) Birenbaum, Pompano Beach, FL.; son, Richard (Sunny) Keppler, Orlando, Fl.; special niece, Teri (Danny) Romero; along with his four grandchildren, James, Stephanie, Kimberly and Kenny; and four great-grandchildren, Dominique, Alexis, Logan and Dash.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Wayne Keppler.
Rick's family would like to extend a big thank you to Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their loving care. We also extend a special thanks, to our beloved nurse Tiana, Dr. Cam Williams, Mallory and Ethan.
