Dawn Rivet Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc. - Price on Dec. 7, 2025.
Dawn Marie Rivet

PRICE - Dawn Marie Rivet passed away December 6, 2025 in Price, Utah surrounded by her loving family after a courageous health battle; she truly fought till the end.

Dawn was born on July 31, 1954 in Champlain, New York and graduated from North Clinton County High School in 1973.

She married Jeffery Wayne Slama in 1985. Together they had two daughters, April Dawn and Tiffany Ann. Dawn and Jeff later divorced in 1997.

Dawn later met Edward Smith, and together they shared a very special relationship. They would often spend time together working hand in hand on Ed's buses. They were truly inseparable.

Above all, Dawn was a happy person full of life. She could light up any room and was always there to make people laugh and smile with her jokes.

Dawn adored all of her grandkids and she would do anything for them. She also held a special place in her heart for Bracken and Cenyen Jensen, who she treated like her own.

Dawn was really good with numbers and was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Tasmanian Devil. She was also hooked on watching Days of our Lives and Law and Order. Dawn also enjoyed the little things in life, like her essentials, a cold Mountain Dew and a cigarette.

Dawn definitely had the gift of gab, and was affectionately known as the "Loud Mouth Waitress of China City". In 2005, she went to work for the Greenwell Inn Hotel as a housekeeper. She was a very special soul, which made it easy for Dawn to make many lifelong friendships. During her working years at the Greenwell Inn, she created a special bond with one of her close friends, Carolyn "CC" Cordova. They would take any opportunity to visit over a cigarette and spend time together. She also adored harassing, in good fun, her coworker and dear friend, Joann Garcia, who was lovingly known as her "Little Chihuahua".

Dawn will be in our hearts forever and will be deeply missed by her loving family and a community of friends.

Dawn is survived by her daughters, April Dawn (BJ) Benoit, Price, and Tiffany Ann Slama, Price; brother, Leo Rivet, Champlain, NY; the father of her children, Jeffery (Tracey) Slama, Price; mother-in-law, MaryLou Slama, Price; and Crystal (Bryson) Jensen, Casper, WY; along with her beloved grandchildren, Trey Joseph Benoit, Arianna Marie Ginther, McKayla Dawn Benoit, Adrien Paul Benoit, Bracken Jensen, Cenyen Jensen and many loving family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul G. Rivet and Ruth J. Glaude; her soulmate, Edward Smith; father-in-law, Albert H. Slama; sister-in-law, Connie Slama; and her beloved friends, Dot Black and Dean Lister; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Funeral service, Friday, December 12, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main St. Price, UT) where the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and Friday morning one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in the Cliffview Cemetery, Price, UT.
