GREEN BAY - Verna Josephine (Brault) Rivet, 97, Green Bay, passed away January 25, 2026. She was born October 19, 1928, in Coleman, WI, daughter to the late Henry J. and Juliette J. (Theys) Brault.Verna worked as a caregiver/CNA at different nursing homes for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. She was a great cook, wife and the best Mom ever. Verna married the love of her life, Lloyd Rivet, on August 4, 1945, sharing 65 years together, and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2011.
Devoted to her faith, God, the Sacred Heart and the Blessed Mother; said the rosary for many in need of prayers; cooking and baking; knitting and crocheting prayer shawls; loved dogs and many cats that kept her company; visiting with friends; listening, listening, and more listening to others. With her feisty nature, Verna was fun; loving; caring; compassionate; understanding; and a great listener with a heart of gold.
Survivors include her 3 daughters: Char Scheller, Sue Hannon, and Rose(Tom) Salkowski; grandchildren: Melanie Rivet; Ben Hannon; Stephie Scheller; Matt Scheller; Courtney Langer; and Emily Johnson; daughter of the heart, Betty Borley; great grandchildren: Jakob Hannon; Liam Hannon; Lucy Rose Stoddard; Lennen Lauth; Desi Johnson; Lucas Hannon; and Amelia Jo Hannon; brothers: Jerome (Jerry) Brault; Ron (Joanne) Brault; sister-in-law, June Brault; and many nieces and nephews.Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; mother, Juliette Brault; son, Bernard Richard Rivet; parents, Henry and Agnes Brault; brothers: Ernie (Dorothy) Brault, Melvin Brault; sister, Marlene; Her beloved cats, Oscar and Squirrel; and many dear friends and other relatives.
Family and friends may visit the McCormick Assisted Living Chapel, (located on the 2nd floor), 212 Iriquois Ave, Green Bay, on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 9 a.m. until the hour of Requiem Mass at 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Willie Van De Loo officiating. Light luncheon to follow in Grellinger Hall. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
Memorial donations may be made in Verna’s name to the Green Bay Human Society.We would like to thank the special, caring and devoted staff at McCormick Assisted Living for the excellent and exemplary care that they gave to our Mother during her two and half years stay, especially the last days where she and her daughters received extraordinary love and support through her final journey, as well as the many residents who became dear friends to Verna and her family.
Also to the amazingly compassionate women at Unity Hospice--Jane,Ashely, Nicki, Lucy and Tanisha--who went above and beyond in their love and care for Verna.
