Richard John Knuff

Richard ("Dick") John Knuff, 79, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the arms of his family on May 30, 2024.
Born in Detroit in 1944 to William George Knuff and Helen Jean Knuff (nee Mahoney), Dick grew up in Birmingham, Michigan. He graduated from his beloved University of Detroit Jesuit High School in 1962 and from the University of Detroit in 1966 with a business degree. He began his career at St. Bede's Catholic School in Southfield, Michigan teaching science, where he endeared himself to his students with his humor and love of learning. After several years of teaching, Dick launched a long career in medical device sales. Physicians leaned on his expertise, valuing his insights and advice. He eventually opened his own healthcare management consulting company, R.J. Knuff and Associates, where health care leaders and professionals throughout Southeast Michigan sought his guidance. Dick was a natural salesman known for his wisdom, honesty, sharp wit and incredible devotion to his family and friends, especially his wife Mary Ann. If you met Dick, you were immediately his friend.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Mary Ann Knuff (nee Malcolm); his son, Richard J. Knuff, Jr. (Susanna Brennan), daughter, Annie Hoban (Dan Hoban), his grandchildren, Julia and Malcom Knuff; and Faith, Lainey, and Marley Hoban. He is also survived by his siblings William, Patrick, and Michael and preceded in death by his father William, mother Jean, and sister Mary.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12 at St. Andrew Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with 11:00 a.m. Mass immediately following.
