Richard Craig Lab
August 12, 1949 – February 1, 2026
Age 76
Richard Craig “Dick” Lab of Hills and Dales went on to his eternal life in Heaven on February 1, 2026. Dick was a true warrior throughout his battle for life. No matter the setbacks he faced, he never complained. Instead, he accepted God’s plan with grace, courage, and unwavering determination.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rosemary (Paul) Lab. Dick is survived by his loving sisters, Mary (Mike) McWilliams and Sandy Hoffman (Mike Bowen). He is also survived by his girlfriend, Jenny Wallace, her siblings Sara Stehlik and James Wallace, who held a special place in his life. He is further survived by his nephews, Rick Gash (Heather Schwinn), Ryan (Julie) McWilliams, and his nieces, Shannon (Cade) Lang and Jennifer (John) Perko; as well as five great-nephews and three great-nieces. He is also survived by his uncle, Jack Paul “Uncle Pete”.
Dick had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Kinley, who brought him great joy and companionship. He was affectionately known as “Mr. Vegas,” a nickname earned through his decades of trips to Las Vegas. He loved sharing stories from his travels and could talk about Vegas for hours with anyone willing to listen.
Dick was blessed with a photographic memory, recalling life’s events in remarkable detail. This same gift gave him the ability to recall songs and artists as if he had just heard them yesterday.
Dick had a tremendously generous heart and was always willing to step up wherever help was needed. He was an avid sports fan and proudly rooted for Notre Dame, Ohio State, and the Cleveland Browns.
Dick graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1967 and attended Kent State University, where he earned his MBA. He worked at The Hoover Company for many years before beginning a successful career as a stockbroker and financial advisor, a role he continued with dedication until his retirement.
He was also a dedicated member of Kiwanis for 36 years and life member of The Knights of Columbus, showing his passion for serving his community and helping others.
Dick deeply treasured his family and friends and would want them to know how much he loved and appreciated them. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, loyalty, the countless lives he touched and especially his gift to gab.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Father Tom Bishop for his visits, phone calls, and prayers. His presence and support meant so much and always helped lift Dick’s spirits.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Lamiell Funeral Home, Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Canton. Father Tom Bishop will serve as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Massillon.
