Richard M. Lane, 73, of Louisa, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Born on March 4, 1953, he was the son of the late James H. Lane and Mary Jane Lane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nicholas A. Lane.

Rick had a deep love for music that was a constant throughout his life. Whether playing the guitar or drums, or simply picking up and playing alongside friends, music brought him joy and connection. He shared that passion with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will live on through them.

He was someone who could keep to himself at times, but he deeply valued the relationships he built. His circle of friends meant the world to him, many of whom he considered family.

He cherished the pets he cared for over the years and the companionship they brought. They were a steady source of comfort and happiness.

Above all, Rick loved his family. He made it a priority to stay close, traveling to see them whenever he could and surrounding himself with photos and memories of the people he loved most.

Rick is survived by his children, Corey Lane (Nicole) and Erika Lane; his brothers, John L. Lane (Sheron) and Joseph T. Lane (Carol); his sister-in-law, Barbara Lane; and his beloved grandchildren, Olivia Lane, Cash Lane, and Maverick Lane.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville.
