Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bordentown Home for Funerals on Aug. 29, 2025.
Richard F. ("Dick") Langan, formerly of Wilton, CT, and more recently of Columbus, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 26th, at the age of 95 (or "29" as Dick would say), with his beloved wife of 70 years, Joan (née Werner), by his side. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Dick was the son of the late Richard and Ann Langan.
Dick is survived by his devoted wife Joan and their six children: Richard (Lauren), Helen (Jim), Diane (Scott), Jean (Jim), Jack (Cheryl), and Bill (Yodi). He was the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and great-grandfather of three-soon to be four.
Dick and Joan's storied marriage was a testament to love and partnership. Together, they built a family rooted in faith, loyalty and laughter. They settled in Wilton, CT. Dick was a dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Church, an active member of the Wilton Little League board, and a coach of countless baseball and basketball teams. He also enjoyed being part of Indian Guides with his two youngest sons.
Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and, afterwards, completed his undergraduate education at LaSalle University with the assistance of the GI Bill, followed by attending the NYU Stern School of Business. Professionally, Dick built a distinguished career in banking. He spent two decades as a senior officer with JP Morgan in New York before completing his career with Bank of America in Dallas. During his career, Dick was president of a national banking association. After retiring, Dick and Joan moved to Columbus, NJ, where they enjoyed being close to family. In their community, Dick and Joan embraced an active social life filled with friendships, civic involvement and athletic pursuits.
With their children grown, Dick and Joan shared a passion for travel. They visited every U.S. state and countless countries abroad, proudly marking each journey on a map in their home office.
Above all, Dick will be remembered as a loving, spiritual man who gave his time and heart generously to family, friends and community. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched, especially in the enduring example of his marriage to Joan-a bond forever grounded in love and faith.
