SWANTON - Richard E. Langlois, age 80, passed away on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, at the UVM Medical Center with his family by his side.
Richard was born on December 9th, 1943, to Ernest and Barbara (Steady) Langlois.
Richard attended and graduated from BFA High School. Richard married Mary Ellen "Bunnie" Langlois on June 22, 1969. He worked for Champlain Cable for 30+ years in the maintenance department and then moved to line production. He was a dedicated parent to his children's sports where he was a MAHA hockey coach throughout the years. He enjoyed the simpler things in life like gardening, driving around looking for deer, and watching NASCAR races. In his earlier years he took up woodworking making benches, coat racks, and little wooden cars and trains. Richard also would never miss a sporting or school event for his grandchildren and always enjoyed socializing. He volunteered for 5+ years for the Swanton food shelf. He also enjoyed going to support his son with his business, C&M Concessions.
Richard is survived by his children, Mark Langlois and his wife Cheryl of Franklin, and Jennifer FitzSimmons and her husband Joe of St. Albans; five grandchildren, Katelyn, Samantha, Gage, Rachael, and Emily; one great granddaughter, Abigail; siblings, Linda Pfau and her husband Michael of St. Albans, and Jimmy Langlois of St. Albans; a sister-in-law, Margaret Bushey of Swanton, VT; brother-in-law, Doug Bushey and his wife Sue of Venice, FL; and many nieces, nephews and family friends. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his in-laws, James and Eldora Bushey, his wife, Bunnie Langlois, and his granddaughter, Julia FitzSimmons.
Friends and family are invited to Richard's Life Celebration to include a visitation on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, from 1-3:00 PM, at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT 05488. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Donations in Richard's memory may be made to Swanton Community Food Shelf - Nativity Parish Center, 65 Canada Street, Swanton, VT 05488.
