Richard Lantz Obituary

We are saddened to announce the passing of Richard L. Lantz, who left us on October 18, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on November 1, 1948, in Waynesboro, PA, Richard grew up in Sabillasville, MD and graduated from Catoctin High School in Thurmont. He went on to make a career at the National Bureau of Standards & Technology in Gaithersburg, where he retired. He is survived by his wife Shirley Lantz, 2 daughters, 2 stepdaughters, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Richard was known for his love of hunting and helping the local sportsmen clubs. He was a member of the South Mountain Rod & Gun Club and the Blue Ridge Summit Sportsmen's Association. No memorial service will be held. Richard will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love and laughter he shared with us all. Arrangements are entrusted to J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD.
