I always enjoyed our talks on his deck. Dick, a staunch Republican and me, a staunch Democrat, we were always respectful of each other's opinion, but always got our jabs in. In one of our last conversations he relayed a story about a very young Dick Layman recruited by George Reminschneider, the former owner of our cottage to be on "The Board" at Van Buren Point. The condition was that he would vote with George and his crew on every issue. Oh the politics at VBPT.

I was terrible saddened to find out about Dicks passing. You were a wonderful friend Dick at Van Buren Point. Miss talking with ýou, Iris, and Jenny on your deck. You are at a wonerful place. I hope i go to heaven so i can see you again. RIP
