Peacefully passed at home on Monday, February 14, 2022, Richard L. Layman, age 86, of Hermitage, formerly of the North Hills. Beloved husband for 65 yrs of Iris L. Ruebel Layman; father of Lori (Lloyd) Laughlin of Hermitage, Richard L. (Marianne) Layman Jr. of Hubbard, OH, Jeffrey L. (Summer Wise) Layman of Hermitage, and Jennifer Q. Layman of Hermitage; brother of the late Frederick W. and Robert W. Layman; grandfather of Amanda Layman, Brianna Layman, Leah (Ben) Hittie, Madison Layman, Richard L. (Briannah Hansen) Layman III, Ryan Layman, Dillan Layman, Katie Layman, and Ashton Layman; great grandfather of Addy Layman. Friends received Friday 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at Simons Funeral Home, Inc., 7720 Perry Hwy, Pgh, PA 15237 where the funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn www.heart.org, the National Kidney Foundation www.kidney.org, or Special Olympics www.specialolympics.org. Richard was an avid golfer and Steelers fan. His happy place, that he lived for, was Van Buren Point, NY. And HE WAS THE BEST HUSBAND IN THE WORLD!

I always enjoyed our talks on his deck. Dick, a staunch Republican and me, a staunch Democrat, we were always respectful of each other's opinion, but always got our jabs in. In one of our last conversations he relayed a story about a very young Dick Layman recruited by George Reminschneider, the former owner of our cottage to be on "The Board" at Van Buren Point. The condition was that he would vote with George and his crew on every issue. Oh the politics at VBPT.

I was terrible saddened to find out about Dicks passing. You were a wonderful friend Dick at Van Buren Point. Miss talking with ýou, Iris, and Jenny on your deck. You are at a wonerful place. I hope i go to heaven so i can see you again. RIP
