Richard James "Rick" Lillard was born February 1, 1950 in Tokyo, Japan, to Colonel and Mrs. Ross Nicholas Lillard Jr. He passed away on May 7, 2024, at the age of 74, in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother Ross N. Lillard III.
Rick graduated from Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan, in 1968. He went on to graduate from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in Sociology. Rick had a variety of occupations over the years that often were in sales.
Rick was known for his passion for the game of golf and was an excellent golfer! He frequented many courses over the years, but had a special love for the Fort Sill Golf Course and the University of Oklahoma's Jimmie Austin Golf Course. As a proud OU alumni, Rick also enjoyed watching both OU football and basketball. Jogging was another pastime he enjoyed, even bringing a dog home occasionally that followed him. Over the years Rick loved attending many dance recitals, cheering competitions, and awards ceremonies for his daughters. He truly loved holiday and family gatherings with his entire family.
Rick is survived by his daughters Carrie Compton and husband Chris, and Katee Wooldridge and husband Benjamin, all of Oklahoma City. He also leaves behind two sisters Mary Lillard of Oklahoma City, and Linda Lillard Huckaby of Kingwood, Texas. Grandchildren include Cooper Compton and Cale Compton. He was also survived by a sister-in-law, Eileen Lillard, former wife, Debbie Combs, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Reflecting on the life of Richard Lillard we will remember a man that loved animals, particularly dogs, his friends, and especially his family! As we say goodbye let us think of his smile and know that memories of his time here on earth will live in our hearts forever!
