WORCESTER-Richard W. ("Dickie") McCluskey, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16 2024, at the age of 79 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 8, 1944, in Worcester, son of Bernard F. and Mary A. (Bolton) McCluskey and remained on Vernon Hill for the majority of his years.

Dickie is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 57 years, Phyllis A. McCluskey (Inangelo), and their children Tracy A. Murphy and her husband Scott of Paxton, Gina M. McCluskey of Shrewsbury, Kerry A. Luby and her husband Michael of Millbury; cherished grandfather to Devin, Connor, Olivia, Hunter, Emma, Claire, Jayden and great-grandson Dior; four sisters-in-law Rose McCluskey, Margaret McCluskey, Antoinette Brooks, MaryAnn Donovan, several cherished nieces and nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Bette Ann Gregoriou and her husband Anthony, his brothers Bernard "Byron" McCluskey,  Robert "Mac" McCluskey and his wife Dolores,  John "Kickie" McCluskey, his sister Patricia "Patsy" Larson and her husband Carl and  brothers-in-law Joseph Donovan and Richard Brooks.

Dickie proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a dedicated soldier and his military service will always be remembered. He passed on to his children and grandchildren that Veterans needed to be honored and it was his privilege to place markers by the graveside on Memorial Day to those who served. Dickie could be found at his second home the American Legion Vernon Hill Post 435 where he served as Commander and several Board positions over the years.

In his professional life, Dickie was the Founding Partner of L&M Signs, Inc. His hard work and dedication contributed to the success of the company.

Dickie enjoyed his summers fishing and spending time with his family at the Worcester Surf Casting Club on the Cape. On Labor Day the golf clubs came out and you could find him at the four-ball tournament for several years at Wachusett Country Club. Winter was for deer hunting with his closest of friends and his nephews, there was more time in the preparation for these trips than the actual hunting.  These hobbies brought him joy and relaxation throughout his life.

When the time came for Dickie to need additional support and care his wife, children, sons-in-law and grandchildren were by his side along with the wonderful staff at Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center.
