Nancy,
I worked with Dick as his producer/engineer during his daily show at the big D. He was a friend and always had a kind word to say all.
I will miss his warmth and sincere love and friendship to everyone he met. He was the Prince!
Nancy, Helen and I wish our sincere condolences to you and your family.
May he rest in peace.

Farewell to "The Prince." Dick was known by this moniker at WDRC, where I had the privilege of working alongside him. He was always "princely" in his interactions with others, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Now, as we bid a fond farewell to one of the best the media business, let us never forget his humility and learn from that successful approach to life. I will always miss our CT radio reunions at Harbor Park in Middletown, which became easier for me to attend after my retirement from AP Radio in Washington. At our next gathering, we will no doubt mourn the passing of one of our great friends. Go with God, Dick.

I was Dick´s producer for his live radio show on WDRC. Dick was a professional through and through. He was more than that, Dick McDoungh was my friend. He struggled through several challenges in his life, but over came all of them. I will miss you Buddy, but as you always close out your radio show "Be Happier and Make someone else Happy. My condolences to the McDonough family on Dick´s passing. Dick & I were classmates at Fitchburg High & remember many the nights Dick would mimic Murray The K´s voice while listening to him on the radio. It was always a treat to get Dick to perform. In the late 60´s I lived in Springfield & had the pleasure of listening to Dick on the radio. I saw him last at our 50th reunion & we shared many fond memories, RIP my old friend. Dick Freedman

I'm so sorry for Dick's family for their loss. As a teenager in the 1960's, with my treasured transistor radio, I listened to WDRC as much as I could and have many memories of babysitting on New Year's Eves, listening to the countdown to the #1 hit of the year and Dick's recognizable voice. Thirty years later, I lived in West Palm Beach and while searching radio stations, I tuned into WRMF and there was that distinctive voice. I waited for the announcer to identify himself and bingo! I was right. I moved back to Connecticut and tuned into WMAS and, again! You could tell that he was a kind person by the way he proudly mentioned his family on the air or a caller. A comforting voice from my past and many others.

It was one of my life's great honors to have crossed paths with Dick at the very beginning of my radio career at WMAS. He took time out of his life to teach me as much as he could about the business. Because of that, I will always carry Dick's kindness, passion, generosity and humor with me. Thank you for being a great DJ and an even greater human being.
Love,
Damien Fahey

Dick was an amazing role model and mentor to my son Damien...as a young teen as he explored radio. Dick´s legacy continues to impact my son in radio to this day... here in LA. Dick took the time to express his belief in Damien each time our paths crossed. I will forever be grateful to Dick for all he shared.
May his soul bask in the light of the divine for all eternity, and his spirit live on in our daily deeds.

Nancy, my thoughts are with you and your family as you go through this difficult time. There was no one like Dick, with his big personality, kind heart, and infamous voice known throughout New England. He was one of the nicest people I ever knew, always lighthearted, a big kid at heart. I enjoyed all our conversations and will hold his memory close to my heart. With deepest condolences, Dina
