It is with great sadness we announce the homegoing of Richard Arthur McMillan, son of the late John A. and Lassie McMillan.
Richard was born January 31, 1942, in Gastonia. He retired from Firestone.
Richard was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing and his dog Wilson. The best part of his day was being with his children and grandchildren.
He was a faithful member of Landmark Baptist Church. He loved God and his church family, especially his Pastor Dr. Forrest Carroll Hennessee.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by our son, Scottie; two brothers, Hayden and Earl.
Left to love him and cherish his memories are his loving wife of 61 years, Patsy; his children, Shelley Hartness (Brian) and Ricky; grandchildren, Josh, McKenzie, Carly McMillan, Aaron Hartness (Kendra), Jacob Hartness; sisters, Betty Guffey, LouAnn McMillan; brothers, Jerry McMillan (Charlotte), Leonard McMillan (Joan), James McMillan (Sandra).
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Pisgah ARP Church 3600 Linwood Road Gastonia, officiated by Dr. Forrest Carroll Hennessee.
The family will receive friends 2-3 pm prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City.
Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia.
