Richard (Rich) Allen Means passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lee Means and Audrey Cantrell; his brother, Phil Means and his beloved first wife, Alice Jean (Jeannie) Means.

Rich is survived by his wife, Amy and their 5 children: Richie Means (Kris), Danielle Means, Adam Shepherd, Kathy Rayburn, Christina Crosby (Joe) and their grandchildren; Jaydon Rayburn (deceased), Kyrie Rayburn, Avery Means, Jaelyn Shepherd, Elijiah Means, Lily Means, Cannon Dyer, Carter Means, Emerie Crosby. Rich is also survived by his Stepfather, Dennis Cantrell; Brothers, Terry McComas (Della), Tim Means (Gwen); and Sister, Tammy Welch. Rich is also survived by Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews and Friends that he considered Family. (which was everyone).

Rich was a Baseball coach for many years and a Basketball Coach, and that had inspired his children to do the same.

He was a Long Time Member of the Newport News Elks Lodge where his love for the local community and the children got him into the Hoop Shoot where he was the Local Director and then he was also the Southeast District Director. The Hoop Shoot Competition was his passion, from many years of coaching.

He loved bowling where he had bowled several leagues, Local and State Bowling Tournaments and even traveled to bowl USBC National Tournaments.

His love for Sports just doesn't end there, he also loved to fish and oh the fish stories. He loved his Saturday College Games regardless of, if it was Football or Basketball, or even Golf, he loved his Sports. He treasured his time with the kids and the grandkids when the Bengals were on TV, His family UNC Basketball and THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES.
