Richard "Dick" E. Meyer, 88, of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Friday, December 26, 2025. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Platteville United Methodist Church, Platteville. Rev. Tammy Clausen will officiate. Chapel Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5273. Burial will be at the Nip-N-Tuck Cemetery, rural Platteville at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:30 PM at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Richard Meyer Memorial Fund. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Richard "Dick" was born on August 12, 1937, Platteville, Wisconsin, the son of Erick and Nellie Mae (Oudyn) Meyer. He was united in marriage to Peggy Withrow on August 5, 1961, at the United Methodist Church, Rewey, Wisconsin. Dick served in the U.S. Army with the 93rd Engineering Company in Stuttgart, Germany. He worked for the Platteville Telephone Company, where he was a lineman. Dick was a member of the Platteville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, mowing his yard, taking on any task of fixing things that needed attention. He enjoyed many memories and fishing at the cottage in Cassville, followed NASCAR racing, the Chicago Bears and Packers. Dick loved being with family and following his grandchildren in their school activities. He loved traveling, especially the Alaska trip with friends.

Dick is survived by his wife, Peggy; three children, Tami (Steve) Freiburger, Jody (Bryan) Vargo and Steven Meyer; nine grandchildren, Mindy, Jeni (Kyle), Shane, Dustin, Jessie (Mike), Tyler (Mary), Cody, Destiny and Colin; five great-grandchildren, Tessa Jo, Ariea, Skylar, Anthony and Skye; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary (Sharon) Withrow, Pat (Jim) Bruun, Shirley Withrow, Darrell Browning, Dean Collins, Carol Schardt and Marge Felderman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law John and Lou Withrow (Felderman), Ralph Felderman, son-in-law, Steve Freiburger, grandson, Logan Vargo, sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Ann and Robert Haney, nephew, Randy Haney, sisters-in-law, Barb Browning and Lynn Collins, brother-in-law, Jon "Jack" Withrow.
