Richard A. Miller, Sr., age 66, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Beloved father of Erica Arpajian (Ronnie) and Richie Miller (Amber Smith); loving grandfather of Ronnie Arpajian, III, Ryan Arpajian and Camryn Arpajian; dearest brother of Mike Miller (Debbie) and Carolyn Martovitz (Mark); dear uncle of Mindi Kasper (Brian), Mary Martovitz and Michael Dennis. His great nieces and nephews, Oliva, Ethan, Skylar, and Jordan, held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Sam" and Betty Jean (nee Workman) Miller.
Richard had lived in the same home in Cleveland most of his life and was a proud member of the "Chestnutdale family". Even long after its "members" moved away, their connection with one another remained strong and they still consider each other family.
Richard was a true jack of all trades who had a tool for every job! He was a particularly skilled craftsman who could do all types of carpentry work, but he could also do home remodels and even helped family build houses. He also loved to go to garage sales and yard sales and could never pass up what he saw as a bargain, regardless of whether it was something he thought he could use, which led to him becoming a collector of lots of different things!
He loved flower gardening, and not only surrounded the outside of his home with flowers and plants, but the inside of his home as well. He had a truly green thumb and could turn the most wilted and neglected plant back into a thriving beauty with his dedicated care.
Richard's real passion was fishing, but also had a simple love of fish themselves. He was quite a pond hopper, and never missed a chance to go fishing, especially for bass. He also surrounded himself with fish in his home as he kept numerous aquariums with both tropical and saltwater fish. He also volunteered at the Ohio Fish Rescue in Strongsville, Ohio.
Richard was a proud member of the Miller family, but his greatest source of strength and pride was his relationship with his two children. Despite illness and trials, as well as the joys and sorrows they all shared, they were inseparable and had an unbreakable bond that will endure, even as Erica and Richie mourn his passing. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all!
To honor Richard's love of fish, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Ohio Fish Rescue, 15563 Colebright Dr., Strongsville, OH 44136 or online at https://www.ohiofishrescue.com/donate.html.
Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Busch Funeral Home, 4334 Pearl Rd., Cleveland, OH 44109.
