ST. PARIS – Richard "Scott" Mitchell, 68 of St. Paris, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on March 13, 2026 at his home with his loving companion by his side.
He was born on Jan. 18, 1958 in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Thomas and Viola (Pleines) Mitchell.
Scott was a 1977 graduate of Graham High School. He was a simple man who truly loved life and found joy in the things that mattered most, family, friends, and the community he called home. Scott was a devoted sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cincinnati Reds. He also loved spending time on the golf course.
Scott had a passion for traveling, particularly with his beloved companion, Lori. Together they created many cherished memories, especially during trips to the mountains. He deeply loved living in St. Paris and had a special appreciation for Champaign County and the people who made it home.
He worked for many years at Infotel and later dedicated many years of service to PepsiCo before retiring.
Scott enjoyed hosting and attending poker nights with his close group of friends, something he looked forward to regularly. He also loved working with his hands and took great pride in completing projects around his home.
Above all, Scott treasured time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him. His greatest joy was coaching his kids and later proudly watching his grandchildren play the sports they loved. Whether on the sidelines, in the stands, or offering encouragement and advice, he was always their biggest supporter and rarely missed a game. Those moments spent together on the field and at the ballpark were some of the memories he cherished most.
Scott is survived by his loving spouse by his side, Lori Roberts; his children, Spencer (Andi) Mitchell, Skyler (Gloria West) Mitchell and Siara Mitchell; his previous wife and the mother of their children, Shannon Mitchell; brothers, Mike Mitchell and Jim Mitchell; grandchildren, Jack Seeberg , AJ Mitchell, Bowen Scott Mitchell, Royce West and Liam West; nieces and nephews, Christine, Victoria, Matt, Nicole, Sarah, Hannah, Emily, Dennis and Angela; Lori's daughter, Hannah (Joel Harpst) Roberts; her grandchildren, Lexi Baker and Axl Harpst; lifelong friends, Richard Allebach, Dale Baker, Tim "Little Buddy" Harmon, Mike Rogers and his poker family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Mitchell; sister, Sue Mitchell.
