Richard Calvin Mobley

1957 - 2024

Richard "Moose" Calvin Mobley, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 25, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in New Orleans to the late Lucille M. Burmaster and Richard Calvin Mobley Sr. and was the stepson of the late Alfred Dugan Sr. and Ernest Burmaster Jr. He was a native of the Westbank for 60 years and a resident of Franklinton for the past 8 years. Moose worked at Spectrum Automotive in Gretna for over 40 years before retiring. In his younger days, he enjoyed restoring motorcycles and classic cars and treasured his 1965 GTO convertible. In his later years, he enjoyed country living and spending time with his grandchildren. "Pops" loved his morning routine of bringing his grandson to Gus' Restaurant in Folsom for breakfast before school. Moose was larger than life with a heart of gold. He has left his family and friends with wonderful memories that they will cherish. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. He met the love of his life, Rose Simoneaux, in 1980 and gave her 43 wonderful years. Together they raised three children who adored him; David Mobley (Dana Neal), Jessica Thurman (Warren) and Amanda Doescher (Philip). He is survived by five grandchildren; August and Emery Doescher, Corbin Thurman and Tristan and Logan Taylor. He also leaves behind a sister, Alice Thibodeaux and many nieces, nephews and friends. He cherished his longtime friendship with Ted and Gail Heine and Woody Yandle and enjoyed his daily calls from his brother-in-law Jimmy Simoneaux. While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and that his final wishes were carried out as he requested.
