It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Alan Montell, fondly known as Rick, who left this world on June 6, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on January 25, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio, Rick was a proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who dedicated his life to his family and his business.
Rick was the proud owner of RM Enterprises of Galloway Inc., a trucking company he built from the ground up since 2005. His dedication and hard work were evident in every aspect of his life, as he constantly strived to provide the best for his family. Those who knew him would describe Rick as ornery, yet he exemplified the qualities of a family man, giving everything he had to both his job and loved ones. He cherished the life he built alongside his beloved wife of 35 years, Lisa Renee Montell, and took immense pride in their journey together, celebrating the accomplishments of their children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; daughter Brittnie Marie (David Cain) Montell; sons Richard Andrew (Shannon) Montell and Brian Thomas Miller; brother John Montell; sister Anita (Alan) Wedemeyer; in-laws Charles and Connie Miller; brother-in-law Shawn Miller; sister-in-law Jennifer (Brad) Edwards; and numerous grandchildren, including Maddison, Joseph, and Landen Gueulette; Jayden, Mackenzie, and Mackayla Montell; Hannah Miller; and Kynleigh Nichols. Rick was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great-grandson, a joyous moment that brought him great excitement and anticipation.
While we mourn the loss of this extraordinary man, we also celebrate the memories he created and the love he shared with all his family and friends. Rick is preceded in death by his father, John Andrew Montell; mother, Rita Marie Montell; sister-in-law, Becky Montell; and niece, Meggan Montell.
A visitation to honor Rick’s memory will be held on June 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. A Mass will take place the following day, June 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church, 434 Norton Rd, Columbus, Ohio. Rick will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio.
As we say goodbye to Rick, we are reminded of his passion for life, whether it was through hunting, fishing, spending precious moments at the family's cabin near Burr Oak State Park, or cheering on his favorite drag races. Each reflection conjures a smile, bringing his spirit back into our hearts—a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion that will forever inspire those who were lucky enough to know him.
