Richard Michael "Mike" Moody

Richard Michael Moody, 76, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida recently passed away Monday morning, October 27, 2025.

Born November 7, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Max and Dorothy Moody. Richard, also known as "Mike" grew up in the Southside area and has remained a local resident to northeast Florida his entire life. During his teen years he encountered something extremely rare and met the love of his life Helen Chappelle who he married a few years later in 1966. By the late 60's Richard and Helen had their first of three children, Michael Moody Jr., Chappy Moody, and finished with Jason Moody in the mid 70's. Richard was genuinely interested and involved in each of his three sons lives every single year up until his passing which has inaugurated him as one of the world's greatest fathers.

Richard's example of fatherhood will be passed along through Michael Moody Jr. and wife Malinda, Chappy Moody and Irene Scott, and Jason Moody and wife Julie. He was a proud grandfather to Marshall, Maverick, Kayla and Marissa and a great-grandfather to Huck.

Richard cherished every moment spent with his family and found peace and happiness when boating and fishing, his favorite pastime. If you couldn't find him on the water, just look in the garage and he'll be at the workbench with tools in hand working on mechanical items, equipment, and CB radios as always.

Richard will be missed deeply by all who were blessed to know him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ponte Vedra Valley Funeral Home: 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
