Richard Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clinton Funeral Service on Sep. 28, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Richard James Moore, 94, went to be with his Lord and Savior at his home on Holly Mountain in Clinton, Arkansas, on Sunday, September 28, 2025. He was born in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, to Robert and Alice Moore on September 6, 1931. Though Richard had experienced 65 years of earthly love with his beautiful wife, Pauline, he had a heavenly reunion that awaited him.

Richard served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his time, he was awarded many honorable service medals. He was known as Uncle Eti by all of his nieces and nephews, a word he had brought home from his time spent overseas. He earned that nickname because anytime he would smash his finger or stub a toe, he would always be hollering out Eti.

Richard retired from General Motors after a long career marked by hard work and dedication. Later, after moving to his home on Holly Mountain, he discovered he had neighbors living on each side of him who had worked for General Motors in different states than the one in which he had worked. Although Richard worked at General Motors, he was a Ford man at heart. At one time, he owned a 1975 Ford Courier truck with over 400,000 miles on it, which in itself said a lot for a truck in that time.

One of his favorite hobbies was wood carving. He made furniture, rocking chairs, and rocking horses. One of his favorite things to carve was big trucks out of cedar. He could look at or take a picture of a big truck, oil tankers especially, and go home and make an almost identical carving of it by hand, very large carvings at times.

He really was a kid at heart, very lovable and very loving. He knew how to yo-yo and had a lot of tricks to show off and try to teach his nieces and nephews when growing up. He loved to fish and had a combination bass sports boat that he taught all the kids to ski on. He loved to play chess, and he just loved playing all types of games and spending time with his family. If you knew Richard, you knew what love, devotion, hard work, and having fun were all about. He will be missed by so many, but he enjoyed a long, beautiful life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pauline, his sons, Larry and Perry Moore, his grandson, James Moore, and six sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Wesley Moore; granddaughter, Pauline Bailey; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Clinton Funeral Service, in Clinton, Arkansas, with Reverend Sherry Bright officiating. Burial at a later date will take place at Holly Mountain Cemetery.
