Richard Jordan Moravek

Richard Moravek, 70, of Wauconda, IL, died on November 15, 2025.

He was born in Berwyn, IL to Robert C. and Marilyn Moravek. He grew up in West Chicago, IL and went to Wheaton Christian High School (now Wheaton Academy), class of 1973. Throughout his life, one thing remained consistent, his love for aircrafts. Rich earned his pilot’s license in 1974 at the age of 18. He worked at DuPage Airport in West Chicago, IL until 1982 and then for Air Wisconsin at O’Hare Airport until 2002. After that, he worked at Interstate Batteries in Island Lake, IL, where he turned co-workers into lifelong friends.

Rich retired in 2020 and enjoyed cooking new creations in the kitchen, watching college sports, playing flight simulator video games and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Rich is preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. and Marilyn Moravek, his brother, Robert P. Moravek, and his first-born grandson, Anthony Moravek. He is survived by his best friend and ex-wife, Jill Miller; his 5 children, Mike Moravek, Katie Moravek, Abby (Kevin) Moravek-Carney, Eric (Leyla) Moravek, and Amanda (Matt) Smietanski; and his 5 grandchildren Samantha Moravek, Emily Moravek, Michael Moravek Jr, Liam Mendez, and Gabi Mendez.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday November 29, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St., (one block north of Washington St. and Main St.) West Chicago, IL 60185. A service will follow visitation at the funeral home at 4:00 p.m. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
