Richard Forrest Motch II, age 76 of Kinmundy, Illinois, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at his home.

Richard was born on March 7, 1949, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Richard Forrest Motch Sr. and Charlene (Hulsey) Skyles. He married Dinah (Osborne) Motch on July 16, 1967, at the Missionary Baptist Church in Alma, Illinois, and together they shared 58 years in marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Dinah Motch of Kinmundy; daughter, Beth Annah Crosby and husband Louis of Salem; son, Richard Forrest "Threer" Motch and wife Kyla of Kinmundy; grandchildren, Olivia Meador and husband Michael, Griffin Motch, Gracie Motch, Greta Motch, Granger Motch, Kash Hall, and Vivian Motch; great grandchildren, Mila and Luca Meador, Ella Motch, and Axel Motch; and sisters, Clyda Knottman and husband Greg of St. Charles, Missouri, and Fern Skyles of Kinmundy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Motch Sr. and Charlene Skyles; stepfather, John Skyles; and a brother in-law, Dale Osborne.

Richard worked as an Operating Engineer while they were building the interstates and later went on to work for the Canadian National and Illinois Central Railroads as a trackman.

He was a member of the Kinmundy Christian Church. He loved camping, hunting, riding Jeeps and ATV's, and horseback riding in the Shawnee National Forrest.

Visitation for Richard Forrest Motch II will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Kinmundy Christian Church in Kinmundy, Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with Josh Conley officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the family (checks payable to Dinah Motch) for a fund being set up to help maintain camp in Pope County and will be received at the church or at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
