Richard Mueller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels & Cremation Services on Mar. 6, 2026.
Richard Frederick Mueller, 66, of Enfield, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on May 15, 1959, he was the son of Frederick H. and Susan J. (Cioffi) Mueller. Richard grew up in Enfield and spent approximately five years living in Windsor Locks before returning to his hometown. He was a graduate of Enrico Fermi High School, Class of 1977.

Richard built a varied and hardworking career across several industries. Early in his working life he spent nearly ten years in the auto parts industry with Dominick's/NAPA Auto Parts. He later worked in automobile sales before pursuing his interest in technical design. After studying Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) at the Baran Institute of Technology in Windsor, he worked as a draftsman with Gerber Scientific. He later completed his career with City Stamp prior to his retirement.

During his youth, Richard attended the former St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Thompsonville with his family. He was an active member of the Ellington NCRCC Radio Control Club and the Pioneer Valley Radio Control Club in East Longmeadow, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts and the hobby of radio-controlled aircraft.

Richard found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He especially loved fishing trips for trout and salmon, creating many cherished memories along the way. Music was also an important part of his life. He played the drums and keyboard in several bands, including his family band, developing his musical talents, especially the drums, with minimal outside instruction, but mainly self-teaching. The bands performed for quite some time at local establishments in the area.

He is survived by his siblings, his sister, Carolyn Alba of Suffield, his sister, Sally Mueller and his brother, Frederick Mueller, both from Enfield. He leaves many cousins and great friends. He was predeceased by his parents.

At Richard's request. All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Please consider a donation in Richard's memory to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (brittle bone disease), 656 Quince Orchard Rd, Suite 650, Gaithersburg, MD 20878.
