Thomas Kozikowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels & Cremation Services on Mar. 1, 2026.
Thomas Kozikowski (Kozy) October 7, 1951 - February 27, 2026

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Peter Kozikowski, 74, of the Hazardville section of Enfield, CT, who passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Born on October 7, 1951 in Rockville, CT to the late William and Helen (Filip) Kozikowski.

Tommy, known to many by "Kozy," was raised in Enfield and graduated from Enfield High School, Class of 1969. He then graduated with his engineering degree from Western New England College.

Tom worked for many years in the insurance industry as a Fire Protection Consultant. His expertise in fire safety and prevention seamlessly complemented his lifelong commitment to the fire service.

Tom dedicated much of his life to the Hazardville Fire Department, where he served with pride and unwavering commitment from 1972-1989 in the roles of second engineer and treasurer. He also served as commissioner from 2004-present. Kozy was deeply respected for his leadership and knowledge of fire protection. He was instrumental in mentoring younger firefighters. His dedication earned him several departmental commendations and the admiration of his peers, whom he considered family.

Kozy leaves behind many dear friends, including his most trusted friend, Jack Flanagan, chief of the Hazardville Fire Department.

Tom also committed himself for over 30 years as a volunteer for the Four Town Fair. His involvement on the board of directors brought him to the level of President for Enfield for 20 years.

On a blind date he was introduced to his one and only true love, Janis Rich, who he married on April 28, 1979. Together they built a beautiful life and home in Hazardville where they raised 5 children.

He was the proud and loving father and grandfather to: Ellen Jones and husband Ryan of South Windsor, CT; George Kozikowski, wife Jennifer, and her 3 children (Ayla, David, and Audrey) of Enfield, CT; Henry Kozikowski, wife Michelle, and 2 children (Nathan and Henley) of Woodstock, CT; Julie Haughn, husband Michael and 2 children (Eli and Stella) of Enfield, CT; and William Kozikowski, wife Alexis, and their 3 children (Lincoln, Luke, and Lily) of Somers, CT.

He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Kozikowski, of Lititz, PA; his most loyal canine companion, Sam; as well as beloved dogs Barney and Ruby.

Family and friends are invited to attend Visitation on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT.
