Vicky Mercier

Victoria "Vicky" J. Mercier, 84, of Ellington, CT, wife of the late Gary R. Calcon/Mercier Sr., died peacefully at home Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

Born on October 8, 1941, in Auburn Township, Susquehanna County, PA, Vicky was the daughter of the late Andrew M. and Leona J. (Kamarauskas) Pointek. In 1955, her family relocated to East Windsor, CT, where Vicky graduated from East Windsor High School in 1959. She resided in Enfield, CT for 16 years before moving to Ellington, CT in 1976.

Vicky was an active member of Ellington Baptist Church for many years. She cherished spending time outdoors, whether it was winter or summer. She enjoyed various activities such as feeding the birds, tending to her gardens, and shoveling snow. She was very thankful for her two companions, Lily and Angel - two cats that just happened to come into her life.

Vicky is survived by her two sons: Gary Mercier Jr. and his wife Lonna of Ellington, CT, and Michael Mercier of Rocky Hill, CT. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Sarah Demasi (Mercier) and her husband Kris of Cromwell, CT, Jeffrey Mercier and Jenn West of Middletown, CT, and Gregory Mercier of Ellington, CT. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Carter and Ferryn Demasi. Vicky is also survived by her four sisters and one brother: Evie Setsky of Enfield, CT, Andrew Pointek Jr. of Enfield, CT, Elsie Schweitzer and her husband Tom of Cape Coral, FL, Peggy Kawa of Riverton, CT, and Beth Lindsay and her spouse Kerri Crough of East Hartland, CT, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Predeceasing her are: two brothers-in-law, Donald Setsky and Frank Kawa Jr., and sister-in-law, Eileen Pointek.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 5, 2026 at the Ellington Baptist Church. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ellington Baptist Church, 264 Pinney Street, Ellington, Connecticut 06029.
