Carl Gustave Palmberg IV

Carl Gustave Palmberg IV, 67, of Broad Brook, beloved husband of Dianne L. (Duprey) Palmberg died peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his family. Carl was born in Hartford, CT, on November 1, 1958, the son of Carl Gustave Palmberg III and the late Constance (Burnell) Palmberg.
He grew up in Broad Brook and was a graduate of East Windsor High School with the Class of 1977. Upon graduation he entered the Army National Guard and served for 11 years from 1977-1989. He met and married the love of his life, Dianne Duprey, on October 7, 1994, and they remained in Broad Brook where they raised a family. He worked for Home Depot in retail sales which led to a management position. He also worked for Boutin & Sons Construction as a truck driver, Cable Construction, and Ocean Air Transportation. Carl's passion was Pyrotechnics. He worked as a subcontractor for Atlas and Pyrotechnico provided indoor and outdoor pyrotechnic events. He enjoyed vintage army firearms and cannons. Camping with his family was an important pastime and he enjoyed trips to Wilderness Lake in Willington. He also enjoyed the ocean and the beach.
Along with his wife of over 31 years, Dianne of Broad Brook, and his father, Carl G. Palmberg III and his wife Barbara of Vernon, he leaves his sons, Carl G. Palmberg V and his longtime girlfriend Emily Blake of Manchester and Nicholas A. Palmberg of Broad Brook; his siblings, James Palmberg and his wife Laurie of Coventry, Theresa Smith and her husband Barry of Stafford Springs, Donald Palmberg and his wife Maureen of Manchester, and Gary Palmberg and his wife Dana of Stafford Springs; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Erika Duprey of Hebron; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry and Anita Duprey of Andover; 11 nieces and nephews, and 10 grandnephews, and grandnieces.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5-7pm at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, 10 a.m. meeting directly at St. Marianne Cope Parish, St. Catherine Church, Windsorville Rd., Broad Brook. Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Broad Brook.
