Richard D. "Murphy" Murphy

Richard Dale Murphy OCo AKA Murphy; Born 6-26-1960, Passed away on 8-31-2025, at the age of 65 years old. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Doris Murphy. Also preceded in death was his sister Helen Rothwell. He is survived by 3 children, James (Jimmy) Murphy, Sarah Murphy and Kayla Murphy all of West Union Ohio; 2 granddaughters Grace Honigman and her daughter Athena Rose; Rylee Murphy and her daughter Summer Nicole that is due in January. Also leaving behind are 3 loving sisters Debbie (Jim) Hayslip, Sandy (Kenny) Grooms and Patty (Rob) Strickland. Many nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends.

What can we say about Murphy? He was the most stubborn and hard headed man ever born. He lived his life as he seen fit, right or wrong. He loved to hunt, fish, raising his garden, mostly he loved to aggravate and torment everyone he knew. If Murphy could tick you off he was happy. He was the life of the party or the one to cause a commotion, but always invited. He was loved by many and will be missed deeply.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 1:00 PM, at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home in West Union, with Jason Hayslip officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunshine Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM till the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Services are entrusted to the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home.
