Richard "Rick" Peter Myxter, 78, of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at The Middletown Home, with his loving family at his side.
He was born September 22, 1947 in Balfour, North Dakota, the son of the late Leo and Florence (Knudtson) Myxter. He was married to Carol A. (Hilt) Myxter for 51 years; she survives.
Rick is a graduate of Balfour High School and the University of North Dakota. For 37 years, he worked for Credit Union Associations in three different states, where he was active with chartering credit unions throughout North Dakota, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. He also worked with the World Council of Credit Unions, where he traveled to Kenya to help charter several credit unions and to provide guidance on training and regulatory issues. He assisted American Heritage Federal Credit Union of Philadelphia with fundraising and other charitable work for a Kenyan orphanage. Most recently, he was nominated as Director Emeritus for Belco Federal Credit Union.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and animals, in addition to serving on the Board at Belco Federal Credit Union for 11 years. He loved quality time with his family and grandchildren. Rick was a master on the grill, an avid reader, and donor to many charitable foundations. He made a daily ritual of feeding the wild animals that visited his backyard.
Rick is survived by his wife Carol A. Myxter, his three children Beth Lyon and her husband Thomas of Mechanicsburg, PA, Kristen Heisey and her husband Jeffrey of Elizabethtown, PA, Ryan Myxter and his wife Megan of Hatboro, PA, his three grandchildren Amaya, Crosby and Caroline, his brother Leo "Lee" Myxter Jr. and his wife Sue of Fargo, ND, several nieces and nephews, and his fur-child, Sam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Hazel Hilt.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 5th, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church Camp Hill, 2000 Chestnut St, Camp Hill, PA 17011. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Speranza Animal Rescue (1216 Brandt Rd. Mechanicsburg, PA 17055) in memory of Richard P. Myxter.
