Richard Norwood, a cherished resident of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on June 5, 1971, in Chapel Hill, he spent his life in the community he loved and called home.
A skilled carpenter by trade, Richard was known for his craftsmanship and dedication to his work. His hands built not only structures but also lasting friendships and memories. Outside of his profession, Richard was a man of many passions. He found joy in boating and fishing, often accompanied by his loyal dog and friends. He cherished moments spent with his fiancée, Deltablue at their house in Surf City, NC, and he delighted in working on cars, collecting items for various projects, and enjoying well-earned naps.
Richard lived by the motto "Don't let it get to ya," a testament to his resilient spirit and positive outlook on life. He was a man who knew the value of relaxation and the importance of savoring life's simple pleasures.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Minter Norwood II; as well as grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, and beloved friends Gerry (Yowboy) Brian and Scott Neville.
Richard leaves behind a loving family and a wide circle of friends who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his fiancée, Deltablue Chevalier, and her mother, Pamela Chevalier. His daughters, Vanessa Knighten-Herold (Willy), Ashley Mitchell (Joe), and Rachael Chevalier (Kevin), will continue to honor his legacy. He was a proud grandfather to Adison, Calvin, Sierra, Kingston, Kaine, Gracie, Juniper, Sadie, and Josie, and a great-grandfather to Elaina.
Richard is also survived by his mother, Norma Davis, and stepfather, Carlton Davis, his sister, Jessica Allison (Chris Beverly). His niece, Chloe Klungseth (Quinn), and nephew, Jacob Klungseth (Melody), will fondly remember their uncle. Many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends mourn his passing and celebrate the life of a man who touched so many with his kindness and humor.
Richard Norwood's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
