He called me out of the blue one day to welcome me as his nephew in the Nourse family. I was already 53 and that was a quarter century by now. We had a great friendship from there with Dick, Debi, Dayne, and the rest of the Nourse family.

My heart was so very sad to hear the passing of Dick.
I will forever remember him and Debbie with their tender touch, unconditional love, and service of trying to help my daughter Tonya while she was going through cancer. Taking time to come up to Primary Children's Hospital to visit Tonya during her treatments was always a highlight for Tonya. I will forever hold Dick and Debbie close to my heart. Dick was certainly a person to look up too. Such a great role model of service and love. He will be deeply missed.

There were four of us that kind of ran around together in the 32nd Aero med Evac Squadron reserve unit of the USAF in the mid 1960´s. Cannon was a conductor for UP. What´s his name was the disk jockey for KNAK radio. I was an estimator in the Construction Industry and Nourse was the beginner TV guy. I picked Dick up on the way to reserve meetings and usually had to drag him out of bed. His wife who was fighting kidney failure was a beautiful girl however they eventually divorced. As we moved away from the reserves Dick, and I remained friends throughout our lives yet did not really socialize. Dick was an unassuming friend from Colorado who never got in front of himself. He always treated my wife with total warmth and respect. He never expected to be the center of attention. Dick had a great sense of humor, loved simple joking, warm friendships and always remembered our AF Reserve days and friends. I saw him a year or so ago in Smith's in St George while shopping and he was struggling and had a tough time recalling our history. It hurt as time was sneaking up on us both. I will miss the chuckles every time our paths crossed.

Dick was a legend.
Even as he battled cancer, his imagery on the air and in the newsroom remained so much a part of his character. In all the years he sat at that anchor desk viewers from around the state tuned in consistently because they trusted him and his command of the news narrative. Dick was not just a familiar face but a part of their family. As journalists moved on or retired or were replaced with fresh new faces, he remained steadfast. Whether you were a veteran or a newcomer he was instantly and always your friend and colleague. As one of those retired from what some call the "golden years" at KSL, I say farewell to MY friend and colleague -- God speed Dick!
