Richard (Dick) W. O'Dea passed away on February 9, 2026.

Mr. O'Dea was predeceased by his parents William and Catherine (Quick) O'Dea, brothers William, John and Thomas as well as his wife Anne L. (Bailey) O'Dea. He is survived by his children; Anne Acquisto of Cicero, NY; Cookie and Jerry Henehan of Windsor, NY; John and Cindy O'Dea of Wauwatosa, WI; Maryellen and William Rochford of Loudon, TN; Patrick and Lisa O'Dea of Guilderland, NY; Kerri and Alan McKeever of Northport, NY; seven (7) grandchildren and five (5) great grandchildren.

Mr. O'Dea was a long-time resident of Kirkwood, NY and a member of Saint Mary's Church. He loved his God and family. A man given much from heaven and earth. He was known as the mayor of Five Mile Point due to his love and knowledge of the hamlet.

He was a graduate of the New York State Institute of Applied Science. He was affiliated with the petroleum industry for more than 50 years. He was employed by Texaco Inc. in various management capacities. Later he joined the Endicott Fuel Supply Corporation where he served as secretary treasurer. His later years were spent with Highland Tank & Manufacturing Co. While with Highland Tank he developed several new tank designs and held patents.

He was a member of the Kirkwood Zoning Board of Appeals serving as chairman and vice chairman. Mr. O'Dea loved dogs particularly his beloved Casey.

The family would like to thank all those who helped cared for him over the last two (2) years of his life.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary's Church, Route 11, Kirkwood, Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. There will be no calling hours.
