Richard James Orms

AKRON - Richard James Orms passed away peacefully, May 24, 2023, at the age of 80. He was born on February 18, 1943, in Akron, where he grew up, graduating from North High School in 1961.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Hawaii during the Vietnam War. Richard worked for 43 years as a train engineer for CSX and spent many years serving as a volunteer at his church and was a talented golfer.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Orms; stepson, William McFadden; brother, Bob, and sister, Nancy. He is survived by his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Kevin Pletcher; grandchildren, Tyler (Ryutaro) Tannert, Kaitlyn (Corey) Olear, and Connor Pletcher; great-grandchildren Camden and Elaina Johnston, and Julianna Olear; sisters-in-law, Audrey Cameron, Betty Hatfield, Barbara Jo Taylor, and Sylvia (Rich) Radonich; as well as several nieces, nephews, and good friends from the Grace Baptist Church of Akron.
Richard will be greatly missed and remembered for his compassion and kindness, but most importantly, for his immense faith and love of the Lord. Mark 11:24
Richard will be laid to rest at a private graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron.
