It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lewis Orms, 87, of
White Oak, TX. Lewis was born on November 22, 1938 in
Electra, TX to James and Louise Orms. Lewis spent most of his life in White Oak, a place that helped shape the smart, adventurous, and deeply loved man that so many knew and respected.
Family was always at the center of Lewis's life. He spent many of his early years living with his grandparents and learned devotion and responsibility at a young age, always being a loving big brother who looked out for his younger siblings. His life changed forever when he met the love of his life, Janet Orms. Together, they built a beautiful life full of travel, laughter, and cherished traditions, spending the next 67 years happily married. He is reunited with Janet, who preceded him in death just five months prior to his passing.
Lewis was a proud father and grandfather who made it his mission to be present and supportive. Whether he was attending performances and games or sharing tidbits of wisdom, he always offered steady encouragement. Lewis took great pride in his family and never missed an opportunity to cheer his granddaughter on. He loved talking to new people, sharing stories, learning new facts, and making others smile. He enjoyed traveling, going to the boats with Janet, catching up with friends, and embracing life's adventures with enthusiasm.
Professionally, Lewis carried on his father's legacy by taking over O&D Manufacturing. Through hard work, integrity, and sharp business sense, he ran the company successfully, earning the respect and admiration of employees, colleagues, and friends. Lewis believed that to be successful, you had to surround yourself with good people, and he truly felt he had the best of the best in his employees. O&D was truly his labor of love.
To his granddaughter, some of the most cherished memories are the days he spent driving her to and from school while she was growing up, when they shared special conversations. She treasures the memories of him singing to her as they swung on the swing set and accompanying Lewis and Janet to their game nights with friends. Later in life, the drives to Houston for his doctor's appointments became precious time spent talking and simply being together. His steady presence was a constant source of comfort and love.
In addition to his wife, Janet, Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Corky Orms; sister-in-law, Linda Orms; brother-in-law, Gary Watson; and half-brother, Danny Orms.
Lewis is survived by his daughter, Janna Orms; his granddaughter, Kelsi Orms; his brothers, Jackie Orms (Lavois) and Tommy Orms (Rhonda); his sister, Tootsie Watson; special nephew, Tyler Orms; dear friend, Pete Delgado; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Mercedes Johnson and Shelby Kittrell with Chambers Hospice for their loving care of Lewis.
A graveside memorial honoring both Janet and Lewis Orms will be held on February 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Old White Oak Cemetery.
