Richard P. “Skip” Freidhoff, Jr, 82, passed into the arms of Jesus on March 19, 2026 at his home. The son of Richard and Corl (Lindgren) Freidhoff, Skip was born on October 11, 1943 in New Castle, PA.
Graduating from Ellwood City High school in 1961, Skip went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Joann Offutt, on June 19, 1965 in Ellwood City, PA. He attended Marietta College in Marietta, OH with a Bachelor of Arts in Science in 1966.
He taught high school Chemistry for five years before going into sales and becoming the National Science Consultant for a publishing company. His sales career was interrupted when they became co-owners of Jo-Mar Travel Agency from 1976 through 1987. He found his way back to sales with a publishing company until his retirement in 2004. Following his retirement, his interests then turned to golf, the Indianapolis Colts, and Notre Dame. To fill his time, he worked at Swan Lake and later at Lowes.
Playing baseball his whole life, Skip’s talent shined during his four years in college as a catcher. While he was teaching, he was the head baseball coach and he also helped coach little league teams after moving to Plymouth in 1971.
Skip is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joann; children, Christine (Eric) Knapp, Kimberly (David) Church, and Michael (Bridget) Freidhoff; grandchildren, Cameron, Brody, Haley, Payden, Levi, Alissa, and Austin; along with his sister, Gail “Cookie” (Bob) Bohman.
