Richard Paul Obituary

Richard Howard "Dick" Paul Sr., 95, of Latrobe, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at his home. Born May 10, 1930, in Latrobe, he was the son of the late Charles E. Paul Sr. and Mary E. (Morvetz) Paul. Dick was a graduate of Latrobe High School, Class of 1948, where he earned the Outstanding Athlete Award for the 1947 to 1948 school year. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. Later, he attended Saint Vincent College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. Prior to his retirement, he was the Chief Financial Officer for L.E. Smith Glass Company and had held various financial positions throughout his career at Crown Creative Industries in Greensburg, Jeannette Glass, Kennametal Inc., and U.S. Steel in Braddock. A member of Saint Vincent Basilica Parish, Latrobe, he also held memberships with the National Association of Accountants, American Legion Post No. 515, and B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 907. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor E. "Nunny" (Murray) Paul, on Sept. 11, 2007. They were married June 12, 1954. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles E. Paul Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Grace Molans. Dick is survived by one son, Richard H. Paul Jr. (Margie), of Jupiter, FL; two daughters, Susan M. Paunovich (Ernie) of Leechburg, PA, and Laura M. Iannello of Latrobe; four grandchildren, Kelly Goodrum (John), Dominic Paunovich (Arlene), Joshua Waite, and Morgan Zedek (Chris); three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Gabriel, and Samara; and his nephew, Robert Paul (Linda). The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Bridges Hospice, especially Lori, Jake, Tracey, and Chaplains Larry and Steve, as well as to Dick's caregivers, Tina, Maggie, Tina, June, Sara, and Marcia, and to Rev. Romanus Davitt, O.S.B., for the kindness and compassionate care that they all provided through Dick's illness. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, at LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral liturgy will be held at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, in the funeral home with Rev. Romanus Davitt, O.S.B., officiating. Interment will follow at Unity Cemetery with graveside military honors accorded by the VFW Post No. 33, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Dick's memory be made to a charity of your choice.
