He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, loved golfing, bowling, hunting, and planting a garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Essie Pickens; brother, Jerry L. Pickens; nephews, Tracy Pickens and Jonathan Pickens.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Helen Pickens of Dalton, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cyndi Pickens of Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Kris Kinnamon of Dalton, GA and Marie and Brian Wilder of Dalton, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda Pickens of Rocky Face, GA, Billy Joe and Kim Pickens of Rocky Face, GA, and GW Pickens of Rocky Face, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Shirley Bearden, Troy Harmon and his late spouse, Margie Harmon, and Johnny and Rosie Mosteller; grandchildren, Faith Manis, Harlee Kinnamon, Ashley and Justin Tew, Abby and Tim Humphries, Ashley Brindle and Hector Vazquez, Kohl Kinnamon, Kaleigh and Cade Bates, Kace Kinnamon, Rebekah and Brandon Rogers, and Jennifer Wilder; great-grandchildren, Emberly Tew, Silas Tew, Wyatt Tew, Molly Vazquez, Noah Downer, Patrick Brindle, Will Rogers, Natalie Rogers, and Brett Rogers; nieces and nephews, Tony Pickens, Terry Pickens, Jeff Pickens, Wanda Alexander, Johnny Pickens, Kenny and Tracy Harmon, Mike and Angie Storey, Monty and Melinda Harmon, Joe and Lori Ford, Craig and Brigitte Aho, Jeff and Cindy Viens, Rodney and Lisa Cable, and David and Melanie Mosteller; extended family also survives.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Richard Lewis Pickens will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Mitch Hasty, Mike Pickens, and Kris Kinnamon officiating. Interment will follow at Varnell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
Peeples Funeral Home & Crematory of Chatsworth has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Richard Lewis Pickens.

Uncle Richard was my Dad's ex brother-in-law but they remained close friends through the years. I always considered him my Uncle. Loved him much. So sorry for ya'lls loss. Bobbie Raines Johns
