Richard Randall “Randy” Pickup passed from this life on Tuesday, February 10th, 2026, at the age of 71.

He was born on April 19, 1954, in Prescott, Arizona as the third of the five children to the late Harry & Joella Pickup.

Randy was a talented singer and keen entertainer. While at Florida College, he was a member of the traveling ‘Friends’ musical group – alongside (among others) Betsy Hutto, whom he married in 1976 and remained wedded for 40 years until her passing in 2016.

Randy was an outgoing personality who loved connecting with others, whether family or a stranger. He loved to joke, and to laugh, and to make others laugh. He had many friends with whom he bonded over sports or chess or the Bible.

More than anything, Randy faithfully carried on the legacy of his family as a preacher and evangelist of the gospel of Jesus Christ for several congregations over more than 35 years, most recently the Shively church of Christ in Louisville, Kentucky until his retirement from the work in 2016. He will be remembered for his love of the truth and care for the churches with which he worked.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents Harry & Joella and his wife Betsy. He was also preceded by sister Donna, brother-in-law Mark, brother Marty and sister-in-law Susan.

He is survived by three sons – Grant and wife Chelsea, Austin and wife Daphne, and Cameron. Also, four grandchildren – Caleb, Owen, Oliver and Eleanor.

A funeral service for Mr. Richard Pickup will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

The family is grateful for all expressions of love and kindness during this time.
