Richard was born on June 26, 1937, in South Chicago, Illinois, to Edward B. and Jennie T. (Imbierowicz) Podsiadlik. Richard spent 32 years employed at United Letter Service, Inc. in Chicago. After the passing of his wife, Rosemary (Wojciechowski), He lived for a time with his nephew, Ken Podsiadlik, in Aurora, Illinois. Richard was deeply involved in his community, serving as a hospice volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital, a Eucharistic minister for shut-ins through St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and as a member of the Knights of Columbus, John Eisen Council 1799, where he was knighted in 1998. He also worked as a security officer at Northway Mall, where he brought joy to children as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny during the holiday seasons.
Richard had many passions, including football, baseball, watching westerns, fishing, gardening, flowers, and traveling.
He is survived by his children: Richard (Ricky), Daniel (Danny), Mary Margaret, and Kevin. His siblings are Harry (Barbara), Frank (Maryellen), Paul, Anthony (Tony, who moved to South Africa over 40 years ago), Edward Jr. (Dolly), Eleanore (Ernie) Nikolai, and Josephine (John) Difiore.
