Loretta M. Heiting, 98, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at House of the Dove by Compassus hospice center in Marshfield.

A private memorial service (immediate family only) will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Rembs Funeral Home, 300 S. Oak Avenue, Marshfield.

Loretta was born on December 8, 1926, in Beloit, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Michels) Schumacher. On April 5, 1947, she married Donald W. Heiting at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield.

Loretta worked in retail sales and as a Realtor much of her adult life. She and Don moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1984. They returned to Marshfield in 2002.

Outside of work, Loretta enjoyed golf, tennis, walking, and flower gardening at her home in Arizona. She also volunteered at Saint Joseph Hospital in Marshfield and at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.

Loretta is survived by her three sons: Bill (Sue) Heiting, Marshfield; Chuck (Juline) Heiting, Stratford; and Gary (Jo Ellen) Heiting, Stillwater, MN. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Don (on December 24, 2012), three sisters, and several other family members.

The family extends its thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at House of the Dove, who cared for Loretta in her final days, and to the caring staff at Stoney River Assisted Living, where she lived for three years. Also, a special thanks to Kathy Shepherd for her constant friendship and advocacy for Loretta.
